It's quite natural to see a father deciding on what kind of dress his 6 year old son has to wear? What kind of haircut he should have? What time he should wake up? How is he supposed to brush his teeth? How much sugar should be added to the milk? How to tie a shoe-lace? Which chocolate to eat? Etc as it is a part of the upbringing. Now imagine, the same father doing all these to his 26 year old son. How awkward it would be? What kind of an embarrassment the son would go through?
